Richard L. Goodenough of Dexter, passed away in peaceon Friday October 13, 2017 in Syracuse unexpectedly with his loving family by his side.
Richard was born October 23, 1929 in Watertown the son of Ross and Margaret Brisson Goodenough. He graduated from West High School in Rochester and then entered the US Army serving until 1958 when honorably discharged.
On May 31, 1950 he married Lillian I. Kendrick in Warrenton, VA. After the service the couple moved to Rochester where he worked as an engineer for Haloid, Singer and G.E. After retiring they then moved to Dexter.
He was a member of American Legion in Dexter.
Dick was a force to be reckoned with. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.
He proudly served his country as an officer of the United States Army, was an accomplished fisherman and hunter. An avid reader and loved a good western movie!!
He is survived by his wife Lillian and nine children: Ross of Dexter, Richard of Rochester, Deborah (Guy) Grant of Rochester, Michael ( Ann) of Gates, Terry ( James) Sailor of Webster, Judy (David-predeceased)Michel of Rochester, James (Caz) of Ontario, and Darlene (Jeffrey) Shadler of Rochester. He has 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, brother: William, Russell and Roger, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son Edward and brothers Robert and Roland and a sister Beverly Clinkscales.
A memorial service will be held at the Dexter American Legion on October 19th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc.
