Obituary of Julia Belcher
Julia E. Belcher, 100, of County Rte 53, Dexter passed away May 21, 2017 at Samaritan Keep Home. She had been a resident there since March 2013.
Mrs. Belcher was born November 25, 1916, daughter of Ernest L. and Clara Seeber Miner. She spent much of her young and married life at her home in Dexter. She graduated from Dexter High School in 1933. She attended Watertown School of Commerce; worked at New York Air Brake for five years as a machinist during WWII and then Frontenac Paper Mill in Dexter.
She married William G. Belcher on August 29, 1948. Mr. Belcher worked at the NY Air Brake for 43 years before his death on October 15, 1977. They were both members of the Dexter United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, David and Diane McGraw, Dexter, two grandsons, William D., Dexter and Christopher S. and his wife Amanda, Glen Park, two great grandsons, Stuart A. and Logan C.., a nephew Richard L. Watson, New Jersey and several nieces and nephews.
Three sisters died before her, Olive M. Gavitt, Edith H. Lister both of Dexter and Grace E. Kurtz of Watertown.
There will be no funeral or calling hours. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter. Donations may be made to Dexter United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
