Thursday, September 7, 2017Eleanor - what can I say that I haven't already told you? Several times. We grew up together and our parents were long-time friends which brought us together in so many ways. You and my Mom worked at Bradley's Hardware together for several years and I believe, you rode with her. You were always a happy person and Oh! do I remember the joy of playing with your (not a dog or a cat) but your pet raccoon. He (or maybe it was a she?) was always so happy to see us when we would ride the bus home and he would greet us lovingly with a wonderful kiss. I have always been happy that we could see each other when I would come East. It was never as much as I would have liked, but 3000 miles is a long distance. One thing about distance is that it is only as far apart and we allow it to be and I believe we were the kind of friends, where distance did not separate us. Our lives intertwined so much until I was married in 1963 and then began my progress of moving to Kentucky and then settling in Oregon. But pen and paper, plus Christmas has kept us in touch and especially when I came home. I am so grateful for those times and now you have well earned your eternal rest. I will greatly miss you, my friend but you will never be forgotten. All My Love Nadine

Lois Hilts Fowler posted a condolence
Thursday, September 7, 2017I am sad to hear to Eleanor's passing. I grew up in the Dexter Methodist Church and knew Eleanor and her parents Ray and Marian very well. They were very loving and caring people. My mother, Florence Hilts, was a lifetime member of the Dexter church. I have so many wonderful memories being a part of the close-knit family our members had back then. May God bless you.
