Tuesday, April 25, 2017I am so sorry to hear about Jay's passing. I got to know him over the years from my work at the New York State Museum. I met him many, many times over the years at the various mineral shows that he attended with his son, Michael. He was always there with a friendly smile and friendly conversation. He was a gentleman of the old school and the world will be a lesser place without him. Rest in peace Jay, you made the world a better place. Michael Hawkins New York State Museum

Tuesday, April 25, 2017We were very sorry to learn of Jay's passing. Jay was always great to visit with, and we talked much about our mutual hobby of rock and mineral collecting. Jay was helpful and kind to our young geologist son Andy, and respectful to all who knew him. We all always looked forward to seeing Jay and visiting with him. Jay was blessed with a great wife and family who are all in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Sincerely, Scott, Christine, and Andy Sutherland
