Myrna A. Joles, age 91 of Dexter, passed away Wednesday morning at Samaritan Summit Village, Watertown. She had been a resident there since April 2016.
Myrna was born August 23, 1926 in Syracuse, the daughter of Leonard and Doris Mayer Huck and a twin to Ortha G. Bellinger who predeceased her in 2011. She graduated from Dexter High School in 1947, later attending secretarial school and also worked for Jefferson County Personnel Dept. for 20 years, retiring in 1987.
Myrna married Niles A. Joles on August 16, 1947 at First Presbyterian Church, Dexter and they raised four children in Dexter. She lost Niles to cancer in January 1980. She also lost her beloved son David N. Joles in 1971.
Myrna is survived by two sons and one daughter; Gene L. Joles (Sharon Evans Joles) of Florence, Arizona, Thomas A. Joles of Dexter, NY and Susan D. Smith (W. Curtis Smith) of Naples, Florida. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and one great great to granddaughter and nieces and nephews.
Myrna was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dexter and a past member of American Legion Auxiliary of Dexter.
A memorial service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter on Saturday January 13th at 3:00 PM with Rev. Gail Parsons officiating. Calling hours will be from 1:00-3:00 prior to the service.
Her love, friendship and sense of humor will be cherished memories by all her family and friends.
